Where would I be if I didn’t have people in my life that believed in me? People who supported my dreams? Special friends who encouraged me and prayed for me?

Working in Swaziland and being a part of the Admin. Team can look and feel like just a bunch of paperwork. The last 2 months I’ve stapled papers, stuffed envelopes, and labeled thousands of coloring sheets. I know this doesn’t sound like life changing work but when I look at the big picture I see that these tasks are more then just “intern duties.” We serve as a bridge in building a relationship between the sponsors and children.

In a country where children are often abandoned, disregarded, and overlooked. A simple letter and coloring sheet reminds them that someone is supporting them and cares. Being a sponsor is not just about the money, it’s about the relationship with the child. It’s a reminder to the children that they are not forgotten. That someone maybe across the world is thinking about them, sacrificially giving, praying for them, and sowing into their future for a healthy and Jesus centered life. I know this because I have witnessed the joy a child has when they are delivered a letter from their special friend and they show it off to everyone around them.

I’d be silly if I didn’t mention this… I get it… the famous question… “How do I know the money and letters are really being used for the right reasons?!?!” Let me set the record straight for you on this side of things… I can’t speak for any other organization or country but I can tell you this… HERE IN SWAZILAND AND WITH CHILDREN’S HOPE CHEST— THEY ARE DOING IT RIGHT! Since I have been here in Swaziland I have witnessed and taken part in making sure it does. Every child is being fed and every letter that is being sent is delivered. The staff… I can’t even being to share how hard they work and how deep they love these children. (That’s a whole different blog I need to write.) I was not asked to write about this, it’s just something I wanted you to know. It breaks my heart as I separate color sheets to send to the sponsors and I have to put so many aside for children who are not sponsored yet and I don’t want this to be an excuse anymore as to why we don’t do anything. You know the truth… Now what will you do with it?

So think about it, where would you be if someone had not taken the time to sow into your life? Physically and spiritually! We all have had times God has led someone to walk into our life and become a “special friend” and that friendship was an avenue to change!

So let’s set the record straight… no more excuses! If you’ve felt like this is something you wanted to do but was being held back by doubt..Become a special friend to a child here in Swaziland TODAY!Sponsor in Swaziland

I thank Children’s HopeChest for allowing us the opportunity to support and serve the children in Swaziland! I give my deepest heart felt thanks to the ADVENTURES IN MISSIONS Swaziland staff for doing the hands on work, answering the call of God and serving with your life. Lastly, I thank the people who have stepped up and chose to become a special friend to a child in need.

  1. Thank you for getting all of those coloring sheets ready. It never ceases to amaze me how much kids who don’t have so much value them. They can spend an hour with one page, even as a teen. It’s also quite therapeutic.

    May God bless you!
